Concordia’s fully online ESL program is designed for current Michigan teachers looking to add an ESL endorsement to their teaching certificate. No matter which path you choose you will graduate a master in second language methodology, equipped with relevant research-based teaching strategies, ready to teach English as a Second Language in grades K-12.

Pick your ESL Endorsement Path

Our 21-credit English as a Second Language (NS) Endorsement program is for K-12 educators interested in obtaining the Michigan Endorsement-only in the area of English as a Second Language.

Combine your ESL Endorsement with a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. The master's program is a 30-credit program for certified K-12 educators seeking a master's degree in addition to the Endorsement in ESL. Eligible students may qualify for financial aid.

ESL Program features

As a student in this program, you’ll learn relevant teaching strategies to implement in your classroom, while building a portfolio to demonstrate growth and competency in teaching standards. You’ll also spend time in actual classroom settings, gaining relevant field experience, while learning how to effectively lead instruction in academic English comprehension and understanding.

Yes! Concordia University’s ESL Endorsement and Master of Science in Curriculum & Instruction are perfect for the working teacher. You’ll learn from top practitioners and leaders in the field, and you’ll be able to apply what you’re learning to your day-to-day work. This program is extremely flexible. You can start it at any time, and our courses are only eight weeks long and online.
